New Leadership Elected Unanimously – Subhash Mattu as President, Dr. Kanwaljeet Kaur as General Secretary, and Sarabjit Kaur as Treasurer

The 13th State Conference of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) Punjab concluded successfully today at Bibi Gadri Gulab Kaur Hall, Hotel Pink Rose, Garhshankar, after two days of discussions and deliberations.
The conference was presided over jointly by Subhash Mattu, Asha Rana, Harpreet Kaur Jhabal, Krishna Kumari, and Sarabjit Kaur Ludhiana. Addressing the delegates, AIDWA National President P.K. Shrimati said that Punjab’s patriotic and revolutionary heritage is a source of inspiration for the entire country. She highlighted the immense contribution of the brave women of Punjab in the freedom struggle, particularly remembering the great role of Ghadar Party’s leader, Gadri Mata Gulab Kaur.
She emphasized that Punjab’s women have fought and won many struggles to secure their rights, and now it is important to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level by building units in villages, tehsils, districts, and across the state. Only then, she said, can women safeguard their rights and achieve new victories.
During the two-day conference, in which women from 16 districts of Punjab participated, in-depth discussions were held on women’s demands and struggles. Resolutions were passed against unemployment, atrocities and violence against women, the growing drug menace in Punjab, the 12-hour workday policy of the state government, incidents in Manipur, and the land pooling policy.
On this occasion, a new 31-member State Committee was unanimously elected for the next three years. Subhash Mattu was elected as President, Dr. Kanwaljeet Kaur as General Secretary, and Mrs. Sarabjit Kaur as Treasurer. Harpreet Kaur Jhabal and Neelam Baddoan were elected as Joint Secretaries, while Asha Rana and Harjinder Kaur Ludhiana were chosen as Vice Presidents. One post each of Vice President and Joint Secretary has been kept vacant. The conference also elected 9 delegates to participate in the upcoming All India Conference to be held in Hyderabad in January next year.
Women leader Sunita Rani Talwandi presented the report of participating delegates. The conference was also addressed by AIDWA General Secretary Comrade Mariam Dhawale, AIDWA Haryana President and All India Joint Secretary Comrade Savita, and Head of Punjabi University Patiala’s Language Department Dr. Parminder Kaur, who extended revolutionary greetings for the success of the conference.
In conclusion, the presidium expressed gratitude to Comrade Sukhwinder Sekhon, Gurnek Singh Bhajjal, Comrade Darshan Singh Mattu, Comrade Mahinder Kumar Baddoan, and their team, as well as the volunteers, for their dedicated efforts in organizing the event successfully.
