50% Rebate on Property Tax Interest

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha /Oct.29 : To provide relief to taxpayers, Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu announced that the Local Bodies Department has launched a ‘One-Time Settlement Scheme’ for the payment of property tax. Under the scheme, taxpayers who cleared their dues by July 31 were granted a 100 percent waiver on interest and penalties. The deadline was later extended to August 31.Now, citizens who pay their complete property tax by October 31 can avail themselves of a 50 percent rebate on interest and penalties. The Commissioner further stated that notices are being issued to major property tax defaulters who have yet to clear their dues. If payments are not made within the notice period, their properties will be sealed.Commissioner Mattu urged all property owners with outstanding dues to clear them promptly to avoid further legal action.
