Massive Joint Operation Target Unauthorized Construction on Waqf Board Land
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct 6 : In a decisive move under the “War Against Drugs” initiative launched by the Punjab Government, Hoshiarpur Police, along with the civil administration and the Waqf Board, carried out a demolition drive against illegal encroachments linked to drug trafficking in Chandigarh Colony, Tanda (Dala).The joint team razed an unauthorized construction spread across 281 marla (Khasra Nos. 38, 40, 41, and 42) raised illegally on Waqf Board land by a convicted drug trafficker. The accused had 11 FIRs registered under the NDPS Act and is currently lodged in jail.Providing details about the operation, SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Kumar Malik said the Waqf Board had sought police assistance for the demolition due to the accused’s criminal background. A heavy police force was deployed to prevent any untoward incident during the action. The demolition was carried out against Sarabjit Kaur alias Roadi, wife of Saroop Lal, a resident of Ward No. 8, Chandigarh Colony, Tanda.SSP Malik reaffirmed that, under the directions of the Punjab Government, the police will continue their campaign against drugs and illegal encroachments with full intensity. He urged citizens to report any such unlawful activities to the police and assured swift and stringent action against offenders. The SSP also issued a stern warning to drug traffickers, advising them to abandon the illegal trade or face severe consequences.Local residents expressed happiness over the government’s action, stating that such operations would help restore peace and safety in the area. They wholeheartedly supported the Punjab Government’s ongoing efforts to uproot the drug network from the state.Officials present during the demolition included SP Major Singh, DSP Davinder Singh, SHO Tanda Gurinderjit Singh, the Waqf Board Executive Officer, the Duty Magistrate, and other administrative officers.
