District Legal Services Authority Launches

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Dec.15 :  In compliance with directives from the Punjab State Legal Services Authority and orders from District and Sessions Judge Rajinder Agarwal, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), under the leadership of Secretary Neeraj Goyal, organized extensive public awareness programs on drug de-addiction across Hoshiarpur district and its sub-divisions.The events were held at the De-Addiction Centre, Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur, Sanjh Kendra/Legal Aid Clinic Dasuya, Sanjh Kendra Mukerian, and government schools in various villages. The primary aim was to educate youth about the harmful effects of drugs, encouraging them to stay away from addiction and embrace positive life values.Panel advocates and Legal Aid Defence Counsels chaired the awareness seminars. Speakers highlighted how drug use severely impacts physical, mental, and social well-being, leading to family discord and societal imbalance. They urged young people to channel their energy into education, sports, and community service to build a healthy and strong society.Under NALSA’s Drug Awareness and Wellness Navigation Scheme (for a Drug-Free India) – 2025, detailed information was shared on the health, family, and social consequences of addiction. Provisions of the NDPS Act regarding drug-related offenses were also explained in depth.Para-legal volunteers from DLSA distributed awareness materials to attendees. Additionally, as part of the “Child Marriage Free India” campaign, students and villagers were informed about legal rights and responsibilities related to preventing child marriages.
