Hoshiarpur /Daljeet Ajnoha /Mar.13 : In a significant decision respecting the religious sentiments of the people, approval has been received from the Punjab Mandi Board to rename the Garhshankar–Mehtiana Link Road as “Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji Marg” in honour of the great Sikh warrior Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji, informed MLA Chabbewal Dr. Ishank Kumar.
Dr. Ishank further said that renaming this important road after the revered Sikh warrior was one of the promises made by him during the Assembly by-elections while seeking the mandate of the people. He said that after receiving the blessings and support of the people and winning the by-election, he remained committed to fulfilling this promise and took up with the government and Mandi Board to implement this.
Dr. Ishank Kumar said that with the approval now received, this long-standing demand of the local residents and Sikh community has been fulfilled, which will bring great satisfaction to people who hold Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji in the highest regard for his immense sacrifice and contribution to Sikh history.
He further said that Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji’s courage, sacrifice and commitment to justice continue to inspire generations. Naming the road after the great martyr is a humble tribute to his legacy and a matter of pride for the entire region.
Dr. Ishank Kumar also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan and Punjab Mandi Board for supporting the proposal and reaffirming their belief that respecting the sentiments, faith and history of the people remains a priority.
