Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha/Mar.18 : The Punjab government is organising the Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh National Marathon at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur on March 22 to raise awareness about the ill effects of drugs and encourage people to connect with sports. Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri today reviewed the preparations and arrangements during a meeting with officials here.Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri stated that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, large-scale action is being taken to eradicate the scourge of drugs, alongside meaningful activities to protect people from narcotics, and this national marathon in Mahilpur is part of that series. He emphasised that eliminating drugs is a special priority for Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, with continuous efforts underway, and youth can be saved from social evils by engaging them in sports.On the Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh National Marathon in Mahilpur, the Deputy Speaker said it features four categories—5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km—where participants will run and pledge to say ‘no to drugs’. He directed that foolproof arrangements be made in every aspect for smooth conduct, instructing SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik to ensure traffic management and awareness about alternative routes, while urging maximum student participation to spread the anti-drug message to the grassroots level.Regarding registration, the Deputy Speaker informed that interested individuals and youth can register for the national marathon via www.srsftge.com, where complete details are also available. Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain instructed officials to complete all necessary arrangements on time, with senior civil and police administration officials along with other department heads present on the occasion.
