Special Intensive Revision Drive: Political

by

Hoshiarpur /Daljeet Ajnoha/June 03 :
Nidhi Kumud Bambah, Additional Deputy Commissioner-cum-Additional District Election Officer, today held a meeting with representatives of various political parties at the district administrative complex to brief them on the Election Commission of India’s revised schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. She urged party representatives to cooperate fully with the election department to ensure the exercise is conducted transparently, fairly and smoothly.
Bambah said the Election Commission has issued a revised SIR timetable for Punjab. According to the updated schedule, the draft electoral rolls for the district will be published on 3 August 2026, and claims and objections will be received from 3 August to 2 September 2026. The notice stage and disposal of claims and objections will run from 3 August to 28 September 2026, and the final electoral roll will be published on 1 October 2026.
Referring to an earlier meeting held on 18 May 2026, the Additional District Election Officer reiterated the request that all political parties nominate their booth-level agents (BLAs) without delay. Parties were asked to promptly notify the respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of their BLA appointments and to send copies of those notifications to the Electoral Registration Officers and the District Election Office. She said active participation by BLAs would help complete the SIR exercise in a timely, transparent and effective manner.
Bambah said pre-SIR mapping is currently underway in the district, involving matching electors listed in the 2025 rolls against the 2003 rolls. To accelerate this process, and as directed by the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, special camps will be held at all polling stations on 7 June 2026. During the camps, BLOs will be present at polling stations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to carry out voter‑mapping work.
She appealed to party representatives to encourage voters whose pre‑SIR mapping remains incomplete to attend the special camps and to assist BLOs as needed.
Bambah added that out of 12,68,739 registered voters in Hoshiarpur district, pre‑SIR mapping has been completed for 11,21,711 voters, representing 88.41 percent of the electorate. She expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of political parties and citizens, the remaining mappings would be completed soon.
Also present at the meeting were election clerks Deepak Kumar and Lakhbir Singh; Jaspal Singh (Aam Aadmi Party); Rajneesh Tandon (Indian National Congress); Bhushan Kumar Sharma (BJP); and Gurinder Singh Goldy and Jagtar Singh (Shiromani Akali Dal).
