Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/July 7 : There is no inherently inauspicious direction in Vastu; what makes a direction harmful are the Vastu defects created during construction, says internationally renowned Vastu expert and author Dr Bhupendra Vastushastri. Contrary to a common belief that the south is unlucky, he explains that a building facing south — if designed according to Vastu principles — can bestow its occupants with respect, reputation, courage, valour and abundant positive energy.
Dr Vastushastri acknowledges one caveat: excessive extension of the south side or an unduly expanded southern portion can produce negative effects. “Avoid southern extensions,” he advises.
The south is especially auspicious for businesspeople, traders, quick decision-makers, police and armed forces personnel, athletes and sportspeople, medical professionals, spice traders, property dealers and others associated with land and real estate. For politicians and senior officials, he says, a southern orientation can be particularly beneficial.
However, if a Vastu defect exists in the south, its consequences tend to be stronger than comparable defects in other directions, and can be especially harmful for women. Dr Vastushastri urges people not to fall for the misconception that any direction is intrinsically unlucky. “Understand both the importance of directions and of correct Vastu design. No direction is inherently inauspicious,” he concluded.
