Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/July 7 : Under the able leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Minister of Higher Education and Languages Mr. Harjot Singh Bains, and following directions from Mr. Jaswant Singh Zafar, Director of the Punjab Language Department, the Language Department, Punjab, Patiala, will hold district- and state-level children’s literature quiz competitions annually. The competitions aim to foster a spirit of healthy competition among students. The quiz competitions for the year 2026 are scheduled to be held as part of this initiative. The subject matter for the children’s literature quizzes will cover Punjabi literature, religion, language, culture, history and geography.
Dr. Jaswant Rai, District Officer, District Language Office, Hoshiarpur, said the competitions will be held in three categories: Category A for students of classes 6 to 8, Category B for students of classes 9 to 12, and Category C for students up to graduate level. Participation will require written verification of each student’s class and date of birth by the head of the institution. A maximum of two students may be nominated from any single institution. The first-place winner in each category at district level will advance to the state-level contest.
Prizes for winners at the district level will be awarded as cash or departmental book sets: Rs 1,000 for first place, Rs 750 for second place and Rs 500 for third place in each category. Dr. Jaswant Rai added that participation from all schools and colleges (government, private and aided) across Hoshiarpur district should be ensured.
Schools and colleges are asked to submit documentary applications of their participating students to the District Language Office, Hoshiarpur, Room Nos. 307–308, Third Floor, District Administrative Complex, Hoshiarpur, by July 20, 2026, or to send them by email to dlo.language.hsp@gmail.com.
