Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/July 16 : With the onset of the monsoon season, the Health Department has intensified its efforts to prevent the spread of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria. This was stated by Dr. Manpreet Singh Bains, Senior Medical Officer (SMO) and General Surgeon at PHC Harta Badla, during a special interaction with senior journalist Daljit Ajnoha.
Dr. Bains said that the risk of dengue and malaria increases significantly during the rainy season. To tackle the situation, the government has constituted dedicated health teams that are conducting door-to-door surveys in villages and residential areas to identify stagnant water, which serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Wherever mosquito larvae are detected, immediate larval destruction measures are undertaken, and insecticide spraying is carried out wherever necessary.
He added that the Health Department is continuously creating awareness among the public regarding preventive measures. Special larvicide tablets are also being distributed for use in water storage tanks and other water sources to prevent mosquito breeding and ensure safe water storage.
Highlighting the Chief Minister Sehat Bima Yojana, Dr. Bains informed that more than 20,000 beneficiaries in his block have already received their health insurance cards. A list of empanelled hospitals has also been displayed at the health centre to help beneficiaries identify hospitals where they can avail cashless treatment under the scheme.
He further stated that awareness and registration camps are being organized regularly in villages and localities. Families that have not yet enrolled under the Chief Minister Sehat Bima Yojana are encouraged to visit PHC Harta Badla to get their cards made. Under the scheme, every eligible family can receive cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh annually.
Dr. Bains appealed to the public to prevent water stagnation in and around their homes, maintain cleanliness, follow the advisories issued by the Health Department, and make full use of the Chief Minister Sehat Bima Yojana for better healthcare security.
