Gurudwara Narayanpuri in Khera Hosts

Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha) July 25 : The Antim ardas (prayer) for Baba Vinod Singh Sangha was held at Gurudwara Narayanpuri in the village of Khera. Representatives from various jathas joined the homage to offer floral tributes.
Baba Vinod Singh Sangha was born in 1961 in Kheda village, Hoshiarpur district, to mother Tara Devi and father Om Prakash. He was an avid football enthusiast from childhood and was a noted goalkeeper in his time. He turned down job offers, choosing not to take up formal employment. His father, after returning from England, had established “Sangha Studio” — a photography and electronics shop in Mahilpur that became well known in those days.
He also drove a taxi in Mahilpur for many years, later operating it in Chandigarh, at a time when car ownership was rare. Through his taxi service he earned his livelihood and ensured his children received good education, while encouraging them in football. Both his sons have played football representing the Punjab Police.
About 30 years ago, following a close association with Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji (the jathedar of Gurudwara Narayanpuri, Khera), Baba Vinod Singh Sangha began spending most of his time with the saint, gradually shifting his focus from household duties to service at the gurudwara. After the passing of Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji, Sant Baba Balvir Singh Ji (of Pathlawa) served at Gurudwara Narayanpuri. Following Sant Baba Balvir Singh Ji’s untimely demise, the full responsibility of the gurudwara’s affairs was ably shouldered by Baba Vinod Singh Sangha.
He remained actively involved in organising and serving at events including the Doaba Cup football tournament, local community functions, programmes at Anandpur Sahib, langar services on all Gurpurabs, and other responsibilities.
Baba Vinod Singh Sangha passed away suddenly on 16 July. His demise is being mourned as an irreparable loss by the Sikh community, religious circles and the football fraternity in the area. On 25 July, a large number of saints, ragis-dhadhis, political leaders and local sangat gathered at Gurudwara Narayanpuri, Khera to pay their last respects and offer floral tributes during his final ardas.
