Civil Surgeon Dr Mandeep Kamal

To strengthen health services across government institutions in the district, Civil Surgeon Dr Mandeep Kamal on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 17 newly recruited house surgeons. Of these, eight have been posted at the District Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur; five at the Sub‑Divisional Hospital, Dasuya; and four at the Sub‑Divisional Hospital, Mukerian.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Kamal said the house surgeonship forms the strong foundation of a physician’s professional life. Under the guidance of senior specialists, junior doctors gain hands‑on experience across departments, which helps them develop into more skilled and responsible clinicians.
She added that the Punjab government aims to provide every patient with timely, accessible and quality healthcare. The new appointments will bolster OPD, emergency and other medical services in district hospitals and improve patient care.
Dr Kamal urged the new house surgeons to perform their duties with empathy and courtesy, maintain punctuality, honesty and discipline, and strictly adhere to infection control measures, biomedical waste management protocols and departmental guidelines. “A good doctor is defined not only by knowledge but also by conduct, dedication and service to patients,” she said.
Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr T.P. Singh, who was present with the Civil Surgeon, also extended his best wishes and asked the recruits to learn from seniors, work with team spirit and remain committed to delivering high‑quality healthcare.
District Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur, Superintendent Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Assistant Dharmendra Kumar and clerk Sukhwinder Kaur attended the event.
The newly appointed house surgeons thanked the Civil Surgeon and pledged to perform their duties with dedication, integrity and a spirit of service to strengthen public health services in the district.
