Gurdwara Shahidan Ladhewal: Students honoured

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Sept.1 : Two meritorious students of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Public School, Ladhewal (Mahilpur), were accorded a grand welcome and honoured here on their return from a 10-day Gurmati spiritual camp in Kericho, Kenya, organised by the Nishkam International Girls Spiritual and Seva Retreat.
The camp, held from August 17 to 26, 2026, brought together girls from educational institutions across different countries, along with 10 students from schools managed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
Gurlin Kaur and Dildip Kaur, both studying in Class 10 at the Ladhewal school, were among the participants from Punjab. On their return, they were received at Gurdwara Shahidan Ladhewal by principal Rajvinder Kaur and the entire school staff, who organised a special function to celebrate their achievement.
SGPC member Jathedar Surinder Singh Bhullewal Ratthan was the chief guest on the occasion. He honoured the two students and praised their participation in the international spiritual programme, saying such exposure helps young Sikh girls deepen their understanding of Gurmat principles while representing their community abroad.
The Nishkam International Spiritual and Seva Girls Retreat is organised in partnership with Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha, Kericho, and focuses on spiritual learning, seva (selfless service) and leadership among Amritdhari Sikh girls from India and the diaspora.
School authorities said the experience would motivate other students to take part in similar religious and educational programmes, strengthening their connection with Sikh heritage while gaining a global perspective
