Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal MP today visited Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur, where he took a thorough review of the security arrangements of the hospital and showed solidarity with the doctors. During this, he heard the problems of the doctors and medical staff and also discussed seriously the challenges faced by the medical staff. MP Dr. Chabbewal strongly condemned the recent brutal murder of a female doctor in Kolkata and called this incident a serious warning for the society. During this, Civil Surgeon Dr. Pawan Kumar, SMO Dr. Swati Sheemar, Ishan Kumar were also present.
MP Dr. Chabbewal met the doctors and health workers in the hospital and listened carefully to their problems and concerns. He assured that he would make every effort to ensure the safety of the medical community and a respectful environment at their workplace. In particular, he expressed deep concern over the issues of discrimination and violence against women doctors and said that it is the collective responsibility of society to address these challenges.
Speaking on the Kolkata incident, MP Dr Chabbewal said, “The brutal murder of a woman doctor has shocked the entire medical community. This incident highlights the insensitivity prevailing in the society and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. We all should come together and condemn such acts and ensure that our doctors get a safe and respectful working environment.
MP Dr.Chabbewal said that without security, doctors cannot be expected to perform at their best. Meanwhile, all the doctors of the hospital led by SMO Civil Hospital Dr Swati welcomed MP Dr Chabbewal’s visit and thanked him for his support. The doctors said that this step taken for their safety and respect has encouraged them and they have been inspired to perform their duties with more dedication.
MP Dr Chabbewal assured that he would provide all possible assistance to improve the health sector and would always be ready to protect the rights of doctors. He said that a police contingent has been deployed here for comprehensive security arrangements at the Civil Hospital. The post will be established and he will also discuss this matter with SSP Hoshiarpur.
