MLA Dr. Ishank Kumar Attends

by
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Feb.8 :  Dr. Ishank Kumar, MLA from Chabbewal, was honored to attend the 77th Annual Conference of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA) and the 23rd Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology (AOCR 2025) held at the Chennai Trade Center last week. As the guest of honor, Dr. Kumar was among over 200 eminent speakers and delegates from India and across Asia who gathered for Asia’s largest congress on radiology and diagnostic imaging.
The event provided a platform for renowned experts and thought leaders in the field of radiology to share their knowledge through engaging lectures, innovative demonstrations, and hands-on workshops. The theme of this year’s conference, “Clinical Radiology Decoded: See Like a Surgeon, Think Like a Physician,” resonated deeply with Dr. Kumar. In his address to the gathering, he emphasized the growing importance of radiologists in today’s healthcare landscape, particularly as diagnostic modalities like CT and MR continue to advance and new scanning techniques emerge. He highlighted the pivotal role radiologists play in enhancing healthcare outcomes and expressed his pride in being part of an event that continues to drive innovation and progress in the field.
Dr. Kumar also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to Dr. C. Amarnath, the Organizing Chairman, Dr. L. Murali Krishna, the Organizing Secretary, with special mention of Dr. Gurdeep Singh, President National IRIA and all the staff members whose efforts made this outstanding congress possible. He noted that the conference not only offered a wealth of knowledge but also brought together professionals from various levels of experience.
Reflecting on his own journey, Dr. Kumar shared how his father, Dr. Raj Kumar, whose work as a radiologist had greatly inspired him, was a key influence in his decision to pursue radiology himself. He revealed that his father’s dedication to serving the people first as a radiologist and later as a politician motivated him to not only follow in his footsteps in the medical field but also to enter politics to continue serving the community.
As part of the event, Dr. Ishank Kumar was honored by the IRIA for becoming the youngest Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the radiologists’ fraternity, further underscoring his commitment to the advancement of healthcare in his region.
