Hoshiarpur/Daljieet Ajnoha/May 21 : SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik said that strong coordination between the police and the civil administration is very important to eradicate drug addiction from its roots. Only then this campaign can be taken forward effectively.
He was addressing a meeting on anti-drug de-addiction held at the District Administrative Complex today. Additional Deputy Commissioner Nikas Kumar and SP Major Singh were also present in this meeting. During the meeting, he also discussed the illegal occupation and encroachments being done by drug smugglers on the land of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Gram Panchayats and directed for appropriate action in these cases.
SSP Malik, while discussing the condition of patients undergoing treatment in OAT centers, said that these centers need to be made more effective so that the people struggling with drug addiction can be given the right direction. Along with this, he emphasized the need to adopt a solid strategy to make the de-addiction journeys successful. He said that this campaign can be made more effective by increasing public participation and through extensive awareness programs.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Nikas Kumar said that to make the de-addiction campaign successful, every section of the society will have to come forward, only then this serious problem can be eradicated from its roots. The officers present in the meeting discussed the outline of joint action against drug abuse at the administrative and police level. SSP Malik assured that through strict monitoring and concrete steps, drug smugglers will be completely curbed. He directed the concerned officers to review such cases regularly so that no laxity is shown at any level. Officers from various departments were present on this occasion.
