Hoshiarpur/Nov 18 /Daljeet Ajnoha :Australian resident Panthy Cherry was honoured during her visit to the Government Primary School in Ajnoha village, Hoshiarpur district. The event was organized to acknowledge her contribution to art education and to strengthen cultural ties between India and Australia.Cherry, an art teacher based in Australia, accompanied a delegation visiting India along with Harkirat Singh, originally from Ajnoha. Singh, who previously served as a jail officer in Australia before entering local politics there, recently returned to his native village after attending an international conference in India. Upon his arrival, the villagers extended a warm welcome to him and his team.During the visit to the school, Cherry interacted with students and staff, inspiring the young learners with her artistic expertise. Expressing joy and gratitude, she said she was delighted to meet the children and deeply honoured by the warm reception. She added that her artworks have been exhibited globally and promised to visit the school again during future trips to India.As part of the occasion, Harkirat Singh’s parents, retired SDO Santokh Singh and Madam Jaswinder Kaur, donated 40 bags of cement for the construction of a new classroom in the school. Harkirat Singh remarked that achieving recognition in Australian politics as a Punjabi-origin individual was a matter of hard work and perseverance, supported by the local Australian community. He also pledged continued assistance to improve facilities for students in his hometown school.Prominent attendees included Madam Jaswinder Kaur, retired SDO Santokh Singh, Madam Darshan Kaur, retired principal and pensioners’ leader Harbhajan Singh, Madam Kuldeep Kaur, Narinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Kamaljit Singh, Dharamveer, Laxmi Devi, Surjit Kaur, Parmjit Kaur, Neha, and Pawan Kaur.
