SBS Nagar / Daljeet Ajnoha/Feb.15 : A case of burglary involving valuables worth lakhs of rupees has been reported from village Mojowal Majara in Balachaur tehsil of SBS Nagar district. The victim family has alleged that despite the seriousness of the incident, no concrete police action has been taken so far.
Retired school teacher Madam Kulwinder Kaur, wife of Harbhajan Singh, a resident of the village, stated that she lives alone with her daughter, who is a lawyer. She informed that on January 22, she had gone to her relatives’ village Samudra and could not return home the same night due to unavoidable reasons.
When she returned the next day, she found the main door of her house broken. On entering the house, she saw that clothes were scattered in the rooms and the locker of the almirah had been broken open.
She immediately informed the village Sarpanch and, in his presence, the Balachaur police were notified. According to the victim family, the police arrived at the spot only after repeated phone calls, took photographs, inspected the scene, and left, but no legal action has been initiated yet. When they approached the police station to inquire about further proceedings, they did not receive a satisfactory response.
The complainant stated that the burglars stole approximately 5 tolas of gold, one silver ornament (paya), and around ₹25,000 in cash from the house. She expressed concern that as she and her daughter live alone, they fear potential threats to their safety in the future as well.
The victim family has demanded that the stolen property be recovered and strict legal action be taken against the culprits.
On the other hand, when contacted over phone, the Balachaur Station House Officer stated that the matter is being investigated seriously and assured that appropriate action will be taken soon.
