Encourages stakeholders to take maximum benefit from the new policy
Says the policy will curb illegal mining and promote employment
Hoshiarpur/ June 12/Daljeet Ajnoha : A crucial meeting was held today at the District Administrative Complex to raise awareness among stakeholders regarding the recently launched Punjab State Minor Mineral (Amendment) Policy–2025, issued by the Department of Mining and Geology, Government of Punjab. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain, and was attended by officials from various departments, along with crusher operators and landowners associated with mining activities.
DC Aashika Jain informed that the state government has amended the policy to curb illegal mining and to help lower the prices of sand and gravel. She explained in detail the two new categories introduced under the revised policy — Crusher Mining Sites (CRMS) and Landowner Mining Sites (LMS). These categories will apply in areas where there is sufficient availability of gravel. Licenses for both categories will be issued for a period of five years.
However, in areas where Commercial Mining Sites (CMS) or Public Mining Sites (PMS) are already operational, CRMS or LMS licenses will be granted only after existing contracts expire or if the site remains non-operational for a period of three years.
To make the application process more streamlined and transparent, the department has issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Jain explained that applicants must submit the following documents online: Aadhaar card, PAN card, GST number (if applicable), certified copy of Jamabandi, Girdawari (if applicable), KML file of the proposed site, and the following forms:
Form-I: Consent/agreement from landowner
Form-II: Consent affidavit for joint ownership cases
Form-III: DSR (District Survey Report) consent affidavit
DC Jain emphasized that this new policy is a significant step toward ensuring transparency, eliminating illegal mining, and providing local employment opportunities. She directed officials to ensure that all stakeholders are well-informed about the finer details of the policy so that there is no confusion during the application process in the future.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Executive Engineer (Mining) Sanchit Sharma, and SDO Sandeep Kumar.
