Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/Dec.28 : As per the directions of Honorable Commissioner Food and Drug Administration Punjab Dr. Abhinav Trikkha and Civil Surgeon Hoshiarpur Dr. Pawan Kumar Shagotra, District Health Officer Dr. Jatinder Bhatia and the Food Safety Team of the department are conducting raids in various parts of Hoshiarpur district to provide clean and quality food to the people of the district. Food Safety Officer Vivek Kumar and Food Safety Officer Abhinav Khosla, under the leadership of Dr. Jatinder Bhatia, inspected food items at various places in Hoshiarpur district and collected samples. Keeping in mind the winter season, the Food Safety Team took samples of peanuts, gachchak and cake in Mahilpur area. The team collected samples of ghee, gram flour and mustard oil in Hoshiarpur city. These samples have been sent to Food Lab Kharar for testing and further action will be taken after the results. In view of the preparations for the New Year celebrations, the Food Safety team also inspected bars and restaurants. They destroyed 30 expired bottles of mocktails and cocktails on the spot. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Jatinder Bhatia said that no person who plays with the health of the people will be spared. Appropriate action will be taken against those who do so as per the rules. He instructed the shopkeepers that there should not be any expired food items in any shop. If this happens, action will be taken under the Food Safety Standards Act. He said that those shopkeepers who are unregistered should get themselves registered as soon as possible.
