Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Dec.4 : Neeraj Goyal, Secretary-cum-CJM of District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur, announced today that under the direction of Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar (Mohali), and guidance of the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Rajinder Aggarwal, a special drug de-addiction awareness campaign will be conducted across the district from December 6, 2025, to January 6, 2026.Addressing a meeting at his office today with officials from various government departments, college principals, para-legal volunteers, and representatives of social organizations, Goyal emphasized that drug abuse has become a serious threat to society. He stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate it from the root.During the campaign, active participation will be ensured from para-legal volunteers, panel advocates, Legal Aid Defence Council members, doctors, teachers, NGOs, NSS and NCC cadets, as well as village panchayat sarpanches.Goyal outlined that a wide range of awareness activities will be organized in both rural and urban areas during the campaign. These will include seminars, quiz competitions, walkathons, awareness rallies, street plays, poster-making and painting contests, essay writing, and slogan writing competitions. Students from schools and colleges, professionals from various sectors, and the general public will be educated about the harmful effects of drugs, relevant legal provisions, and rehabilitation options.He appealed to all departments and institutions for full cooperation, stating, “The dream of a drug-free Punjab will only be realized when every segment of society comes forward.” He expressed confidence that this intensive one-month campaign would build strong public opinion against drug abuse in the district and help protect the younger generation from this menace. Other officials were also present on the occasion.
