District-Level Organ Donation Campaign Launched

Hoshiarpur/ 20 Nov/Daljeet Ajnoha : To mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, a district-level campaign on organ donation was launched today in Hoshiarpur. The event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ms. Ashika Jain in the presence of Acting Civil Surgeon Dr. Seema Garg. As part of this campaign, nine prominent citizens of the district pledged to donate their entire bodies, demonstrating exemplary commitment to humanity.In her address, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Jain said, “The sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji inspires us to the highest ideals of humanity, compassion, and selflessness. Organ donation is an act that can save many lives, and through this initiative, we hope to bring about greater awareness and community participation.” The campaign will be held from 19th to 25th November 2025, led by the Health Department in conjunction with the Eye Donation Association, Hoshiarpur. Multiple awareness seminars, community programs, and camps will take place across the district to inform citizens about the importance of organ donation and encourage widespread involvement.Dr. Seema Garg, Acting Civil Surgeon, stated that special awareness programs are being organized in all health institutions. “Our aim is to connect both staff and the public with this noble cause. Any individual who wishes to pledge their organs can register at https://notto.abdm.gov.in/ using their Aadhaar card and Aadhaar-linked mobile number,” Dr. Garg said.During the function, nine individuals—Harvinder Kaur, Bimla Devi, Harkanwal Singh, Sukhdev Singh Dhillon, Baljinder Singh, Prof. Bahadur Singh Sunet, Baljit Singh Panesar, Gurpal Singh, and Prem Saini—were honoured with certificates for pledging organ donation. An employee of the District Administrative Complex also pledged to donate her organs. The event was attended by representatives from the Eye Donation Association, officials from the Civil Hospital Hoshiarpur, Deputy Mass Media Officer Ramandeep Kaur, Ravinder Jassal, Satpal, and several other dignitaries and staff members.
