Hoshairpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Sept.27 : As per orders given by Honourable Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration Punjab, Sh.Dilraj Singh IAS and Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Smt. Ashika Jain IAS and under directions of Civil Surgeon Hoshairpur Dr. Balbir Kumar & DHO Dr.Jatinder, A team led by Food Safety Officer Munish Sodhi conducted surprise checks on several vendors in Bhangala and Mukerian and collected nine samples of different food items for testing.
In Bhangala, bakery shops and units preparing bakery products were inspected. The team collected four samples of maida, cake, and pastry from vendors and directed them to strictly follow the prescribed food safety norms.
In Mukerian, fast food outlets were checked to ensure hygienic practices. The officer instructed vendors to maintain proper cleanliness. During the inspection, two samples of used cooking oil and two samples of different fruit items were collected. In addition, one bakery vendor was checked, from whom a cake sample was taken. Expired bottles found on the premises were destroyed on the spot.
The bakery vendor was strictly warned not to use expired products for preparing food items and was advised to avoid excessive use of artificial food colours. Vendors were also reminded to comply with FSSAI rules to prevent any adverse effects on public health.
FSO Munish Sodhi informed that the nine samples have been sent to the State Food Laboratory for analysis, and further action will be taken based on the report. He also appealed to the public to avoid consuming overly colourful food items for the sake of their health
