Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/August 21 :
Former Union Minister of State and Ex-Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (Government of India), Shri Vijay Sampla, held a special press conference today in Jalandhar, expressing deep outrage over the law and order situation in Punjab under the current government.
During the press conference, Mr. Sampla strongly accused the Punjab government of arresting BJP leaders during the organization of Seva Camps (public service camps) out of political vendetta. He described these actions as condemnable, undemocratic, and a violation of constitutional values.
He stated, “Seva Camps are meant for public welfare and to spread awareness about central government schemes among the people — labeling such activities as disorderly and arresting BJP workers is clearly dictatorial. This government is suppressing the voice of the opposition to distract from real issues.”
Mr. Sampla emphasized that BJP workers are selflessly engaged in serving society, and such intimidation tactics will not be tolerated by the people of Punjab. He warned that if this repressive behavior continues, the BJP will launch a state-wide agitation.
He also mentioned that the matter would be taken up with the Central Government and the President of India, and asserted that a democratic and legal battle will be fought at every level.
The press conference was attended by a large number of party workers, office-bearers, and media representatives.
