Garhshankar Team Triumphs in Village-Level

Hoshiarpur/ Nov 20/Daljeet Ajnoha : Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh Football Club, Garhshankar, lifted the trophy after defeating Football Club Kukran 1–0 in the village-level football final. The match was part of the 16th Football Tournament and Interstate Athletic Meet being held from November 17 to 21 at Olympian S. Jarnail Singh Stadium, Garhshankar.The tournament is organized under the guidance of Master Tirath Singh Rattu from Canada and Jhalman Singh Bains from the UK. Market Committee Chairman Baldeep Singh attended the event as the chief guest and applauded the organizers for promoting sports among rural youth. Punjab Gujjar Welfare Board Chairman Brigadier Raj Kumar was the special guest. He interacted with players and urged them to stay away from drugs and excel in sports to bring pride to their families and region.The winning team received ₹31,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up bagged ₹25,000 and a trophy. Club President Advocate Jasvir Singh Rai announced that Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s nephew Kiranjit Singh Sandhu and his wife Manjit Kaur Sandhu would attend the closing ceremony on November 21.
