Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 24: G arshankar MLA and Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri, in an exclusive conversation with senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha, discussed various current political and social issues in depth. During the interview, he shared his insights on the development initiatives undertaken by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, reforms in education and healthcare, the ongoing fight against drug abuse, bypass construction, and administrative changes in villages of Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr districts.
Rouri highlighted that under the state’s ongoing “Education Revolution,” government schools in the Garhshankar constituency are being upgraded with modern infrastructure. Several schools have recently inaugurated new buildings and smart classrooms. He emphasized that the state government is giving top priority to education and is committed to providing quality learning environments for students.
Speaking on advancements in the healthcare sector, the MLA announced that a new medical college will soon be established in the region. This, he said, will not only enhance healthcare facilities for local residents but also open new opportunities for youth aspiring to pursue medical education.
On the issue of drug abuse, Rouri stated that the government is tackling the problem with utmost seriousness. Law enforcement agencies are actively cracking down on drug traffickers, while awareness campaigns are being run to educate and protect the youth from the menace of drugs.
He also addressed the administrative realignment of certain villages between Hoshiarpur and Nawanshahr districts, stating that such changes are aimed at accelerating regional development and ensuring better access to government services for the people.
Regarding the construction of a bypass road, Rouri confirmed that the government is taking concrete steps toward its implementation, which will significantly ease traffic and benefit local commuters.
