Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Feb.12 : Shri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur is going to host a grand “Pustak Mela and Art Utsav” from 26th to 28th February 2026 in the college campus. The three-day event aims to promote reading culture, creativity, and local entrepreneurship in the region.
Sharing this information with senior journalist Daljeet Ajnoha, Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh stated that the mela is being organized under the visionary leadership of Chairman Sant Baba Sadhu Singh Ji KaharPuri, Patron Dr. Jung Bahadur Rai, Manager Inderjeet Singh Bharta and Sector Incharge Rupinder Singh. He emphasized that the entire management and staff are working enthusiastically to make this event memorable and meaningful for students and the general public.
The Principal further informed that the mela is dedicated to 100 years of Babbar Akali Lahar, paying tribute to the historic revolutionary movement and its contribution to Punjab’s rich legacy. Special segments highlighting the history and significance of the movement may also be part of the event.
During the mela, a wide range of book stalls will be set up featuring academic books, competitive exam material, religious texts, literature, novels, children’s books, and motivational publications. Renowned publishers and local booksellers are expected to participate.
In addition, Self Help Groups (SHGs) will display and sell handmade products prepared by women and local artisans, encouraging self-reliance and rural entrepreneurship. Various art groups will showcase paintings, crafts, and creative works. The event will also include food stalls, cultural presentations, and entertainment activities to create a festive atmosphere for visitors of all age groups.
Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh has extended a warm and open invitation to students, parents, educationists, book lovers, and residents of the area to visit the mela in large numbers and support this educational and cultural initiative. He expressed confidence that the event will become a significant platform for knowledge sharing, creativity, and community engagement in the region.
