High Court Order on DA

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/April 08 : Senior BJP leader and former Cabinet Minister Tikshan Sood stated in a press note that the Punjab government is in a chaotic state reminiscent of “Andher Nagri Chaupat Raja.”
Government employees have been demanding their 16% pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears for a long time, but despite repeated assurances, the government has failed to disburse them. Shockingly, IAS, IPS, and other bureaucrats have been continuously receiving their full 58% DA from the Punjab government, while junior employees—the backbone of the administration—remain deprived of their rightful share, amounting to nearly ₹14,000 crore.
To secure this constitutional right, employees had to approach the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court. In line with their demands, the court has ordered the payment of the 16% DA arrears by June 2026. This ruling is being hailed as a major victory for employees and pensioners.
The development has exposed the AAP-led Punjab government, which never tires of claiming to be the well-wisher of employees. Not only has it withheld DA arrears, but it has also failed to fulfill promises like implementing the old pension scheme and regularizing contractual workers.
Mr. Sood remarked that employees will never forget the injustice meted out to them by the AAP.
