Hoshiarpur District Prepares for Zila

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Dec 15 :  Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Ashika Jain announced that all preparations for counting votes in the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti General Elections-2025 have been completed. She stated that duty orders have been handed over to the counting staff, and the process will take place at designated venues across all 10 blocks in the district. The administration has ensured the counting will be conducted fairly, transparently, and peacefully. The counting is scheduled to commence at 8 AM on December 17 at the specified locations.District Election Officer Ashika Jain detailed the venues: Garhshankar block at B.A.S. Khalsa College, Garhshankar; Mahilpur block at S.G.G.S. Khalsa College, Mahilpur; Hoshiarpur-1 at M.S.D.C. ITI Campus, Hoshiarpur; and Hoshiarpur-2 at Pt. Jagat Ram Polytechnic College, Hoshiarpur. Similarly, Bhunga block at Guru Nanak College of Education, Dallewal; Tanda block at Giani Kartar Singh Memorial Government College, Tanda; Dasuya block at School of Eminence, Dasuya; Mukerian block at S.P.N. College, Mukerian; Hajipur block at Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Hajipur; and Talwara block at Government Senior Secondary School (Boys), Talwara.Jain emphasized special arrangements for security and logistics at all counting centres. Instructions have been issued to all officials and staff to discharge their duties with utmost diligence and impartiality. She expressed confidence that the process will proceed smoothly, with results declared on time.Notably, 80 candidates contested for Zila Parishad seats, while 582 vied for Panchayat Samiti positions. As many as 17 Panchayat Samiti members have been elected unopposed by consensus.
