BSP Announces Protest Rally in Chabbewal Against Atrocities Faced by Harta Village Residents
Hoshiarpur/ August 7Daleet Ajnoha :Dr. Avtar Singh Kareempuri, President of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Punjab and former Rajya Sabha MP, visited village Harta in the Chabbewal assembly constituency, where recently a disturbing incident occurred involving the police and civil administration. A woman and her two minor daughters were allegedly forcibly taken to the police station due to a dispute over a village drain between a family and the panchayat.
Dr. Kareempuri interacted with the villagers and strongly condemned the alleged high-handedness of the police and administration. He stated that even after 78 years of independence, if minor girls, women, the poor, and the oppressed continue to face injustice, then this cannot be called a true democracy. He added that if an elected government, MP, or MLA inflicts oppression on its own people, it loses the moral right to be re-elected.
He emphasized that it is not the police but the government that gives orders to use force against the public. He warned the current oppressive Punjab government that police cannot save or form governments—only the people can. Referring to the 2022 elections, he said the people of Punjab gave Aam Aadmi Party 93 seats while Akali Dal managed only 3, but in 2027, even AAP will fail to win three seats. The people who have suffered oppression and injustice will remove such rulers from power in 2027.
Kareempuri further criticized the government’s failed war on drugs. Referring to a shocking recent incident, he mentioned a viral video from a primary school in village Rurhkan Kalan (Phagwara area), where young children were allegedly forced to consume drugs. He questioned how anyone can feel safe when even children are no longer secure.
He accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of being no different from previous Congress, Akali, and BJP governments in failing to dismantle the drug mafia. As a result, over two lakh youth in Punjab have fallen victim to drugs. He declared that the mothers and sisters who have lost their sons and brothers to addiction will hold these parties accountable in 2027.
Calling upon BSP leaders and workers to stay committed, honest, and responsible in their efforts, Kareempuri appealed for unity in building a strong base to ensure a BSP government in Punjab in 2027.
He reaffirmed that BSP stands firmly with the people of Chabbewal and announced that on August 23, after consultation with party leadership, a protest rally will be held under the “Punjab Sambhalo” campaign against government oppression.
Also present on the occasion were BSP Punjab Coordinator Gurnam Chaudhary, District President Daljeet Rai, Chabbewal in-charge Advocate Palwinder Mana, and constituency president Yash Bhatti.
