Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Jan.11 – The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is organizing first of its kind National Convention at Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab (LTSU) on February 13-14, 2025 to shape India’s skilled workforce for meeting global skill shortages. Bringing together Vice-Chancellors, faculty members, and students from across India, with a total participation of over 5,000 individuals, the event aims to discuss and shape the future of education and skill development.
The ISTE is a premier national organization dedicated to advancing technical education and fostering professional excellence among educators and students. Established in 1968, ISTE focuses on enhancing the quality of technical education in India by providing a platform for knowledge sharing, professional networking, and skill development. The ISTE has active membership of more than 2,740 institutional members (including IITs, IISc., NITs and other leading technical institutions), 1,414 faculty chapters and 1,505 students’ chapters at National level and 19 Sections at State Level.
The event, themed “Vision 2047: Transforming the Education System for Making India Skill Capital of the World,” aims to align education systems with global standards, empowering Indian youth to excel internationally.
The convention will feature a distinguished lineup of dignitaries, including Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab, as the Chief Guest; Shri Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Punjab, presiding over the event; and Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, as the Distinguished Guest of Honor. Shri Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO, NSDC, will join as the Special Guest of Honor, along with Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman, AICTE, and Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, Executive Committee, NAAC, as Guests of Honor besides other senior members from Industry, Government and academia.
The event will feature the inauguration of the Centre for Future Skills, a cutting-edge initiative by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through NSDC, aimed at preparing students for emerging industry demands. It will include conclaves such as the VCs’ Conclave, which focuses on reversing brain drain by fostering global workforce development through strategic university collaborations, and the Faculty Conclave, which will explore interdisciplinary education as a tool for empowering communities and promoting sustainability. The Students’ Conclave will inspire young minds to embrace skill development and innovation to position India as a global talent powerhouse.
Additional highlights include a National Hackathon/Ideathon to spark innovation among students, the prestigious AICTE Chhatra Vishwakarma Awards to recognize excellence in technical education, and exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge projects, industry trends, and publications. The event will also celebrate India’s diversity through a grand cultural evening
The ISTE National Convention and Yuva Kaushal Utsav 2025 will develop actionable strategies to integrate academic-industry partnerships, interdisciplinary education, and advanced technologies.
