HOSHIARPUR/Daljeet Ajnoha/June 5 : Players from Hoshiarpur district gave an exceptional performance in the Punjab State Karate Championship. These athletes, who are receiving coaching at Jagmohan’s Institute of Traditional Karate in Hoshiarpur under the internationally renowned coach Shihan Jagmohan Vij, secured a total of six gold medals, three silver medals, and three bronze medals in various events.
Chief Coach Shihan Jagmohan Vij praised the players’ hard work and dedication. He also acknowledged the significant contribution and guidance of assistant coaches Sempei Aaditya Bakshi and Sempei Aarti Kumari in the team’s performance.
The two-day official Punjab State Karate Championship was held at Mount International School, Ludhiana. In the sub-junior boys’ category, Aryaansh Chaitanya Juneja won the first gold medal for Hoshiarpur in the 6-year-old individual Kata event. Following this, in the sub-junior girls’ 8-years category, Nayra Verma gave an outstanding performance and secured first place in both individual Kata and Kumite events, earning two gold medals for Hoshiarpur.
Team member Ryan Barpagga claimed victory in the 10-year-old 30 kg Kumite category, while Aarush Sharma won gold in the 12-years 50 kg Kumite category, defeating their opponents with impressive performances.
National bronze medalist Dhairya Kalia, who has represented Punjab three times at the national karate championship, also earned a gold medal in the 10-year-old sub-junior boys’ Kata event . National bronze medalist Vivek Sharma also claimed a gold medal in Kumite, securing his place in the Punjab team.
In the junior boys’ category, Karanpreet Singh Chahal won a silver medal in Kata and a bronze in Kumite. Kritesh Arora, participating for the first time in the Kata event, earned a bronze medal. National player Akshita Sharma also advanced to the pool semi-finals with victories in both her Kata and Kumite matches.
Shihan Jagmohan Vij expressed his happiness over this stellar performance, congratulated all players & their parents and expressed hope that these players will continue their success at the national karate championship scheduled to be held at Dehradun Uttarakhand and make Punjab proud.
