Khalsa College Mahilpur Hosts Vigilance

Hoshiarpur/ Oct 28/Daljeet Ajnoha : Under the directives of the Punjab Government, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau organized an awareness seminar at Shri Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Mahilpur, as part of the “Vigilance Awareness Week” dedicated to the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India and a prominent freedom fighter.The seminar witnessed the participation of SSP Harpreet Singh Mander (Jalandhar Range, Vigilance Bureau), SP Major Singh (Punjab Bureau of Investigation), SDM Sanjeev Kumar, and DSP Mandeep Singh Sekhon.College Principal Dr. Parvinder Singh, in his welcome address, encouraged students to take active interest in such initiatives to become conscious and responsible citizens. Delivering the keynote address, SSP Harpreet Singh Mander outlined the functioning of the Vigilance Bureau, anti-corruption legislation, and its implementation process. He highlighted that the theme of this year’s campaign, “Participation of All,” underlines the collective responsibility of citizens in reporting corruption-related incidents. He further stated that transparent governance is achievable only with people’s active cooperation, paving the way for a corruption-free society.SP Major Singh described bribery as a social menace and informed that the Vigilance Bureau provides toll-free helplines for lodging complaints at any time. He stated that the purpose of the week-long awareness campaign, observed from October 27 to November 2, is to foster awareness and moral integrity among the public.Addressing the gathering, SDM Sanjeev Kumar urged students to play a proactive role in the creation of an ethical and upright society. A pledge ceremony, led by DSP Mandeep Singh Sekhon, saw students take an oath to neither give nor accept bribes. Inspector Sakshi Sharma elaborated on the objectives and operational framework of the Vigilance Bureau.A felicitation ceremony, chaired by Professor Apinder Singh, Secretary of the College Management Committee, honored the distinguished guests. The occasion was attended by Naib Tehsildar Ranbir Singh, Nagar Panchayat Chairman Davinder Singh, Sukhwinder Singh Muggowal, officers from various departments, faculty members, and students. The proceedings were conducted by Dr. J. B. Sekhon.
