“Let the Punjabi Flag Fly

Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/July 15 : The newly composed song “Let the Punjabi flag fly high across the world” by internationally acclaimed writer, lyricist, and journalist S. Ashok Bhora has become a hot topic in literary and cultural circles. The song has the potential to be adopted in school assemblies and as a proud anthem at official government events. Promoting pride and respect for the Punjabi language, this song is being loved and appreciated worldwide.

These views were shared by Shromani Bal Sahit Lekhak Baljinder Maan during a literary symposium on Punjabi songwriting organized by Sur Sangam Educational Trust. He emphasized that it is our collective responsibility to pass such songs on to the younger generation so they can connect with and preserve their rich cultural heritage.

Actor-director Ashok Puri, District Research Officer Dr. Jaswant Rai, and ‘Navi Kalam-Navi Udaan’ project head Omkar Singh Teje praised Bhora’s vast contribution to Punjabi literature through dozens of books, along with his remarkable work in songwriting. They agreed that this song, which uplifts the message of Punjabi language at the international level, is highly deserving of being part of official literary and cultural programs.

In a special review of the song, State Awardee teacher Ajay Kumar Khatkar, Nitin Suman, Pardeep Singh Mauji, Jasvir Sidhu, and Dr. Keval Ram stated that this song has great potential for impressive choreography by students. It not only instills love for the mother tongue but also sows seeds of dreams rooted in unity, honesty, and hard work among children.

The Trust strongly appealed to the Education Department to issue official notification to include this song in government events.

Former Education Officer Bagga Singh (Artist) emphasized the cultural value of Ashok Bhora’s contribution, stating that through the launch of the “Shonki Mela” even before the age of electronic media, he significantly uplifted Punjabi culture in the Doaba region. His contribution is remembered with immense respect in the hearts of all lovers of Punjabi heritage.

Sukhman Singh revealed that the song was co-written by Afzal Sahir and Ashok Bhora. The musical performance by the Gakhal Group, featuring vocals by Satti Pabla and Biba Falak Ijaz, was captivating and powerful. The music, composed by Ali Haider Tipu, created such compelling rhythms that audiences couldn’t resist dancing along.

On this occasion, many music lovers including Anju V. Ratti, Harjinder Singh, Kamlesh Kaur Sandhu, Promila Devi, Awardee Vandana Heer, Manjinder Kumar, Daljit Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur, Manjeet Kaur, Harveer Maan, Nidhi Aman Sahota, and Kuldeep Kaur Bains were present.
