Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha, Sept.27 : Former Cabinet Minister and senior BJP leader Tikshan Sood has strongly criticized the Punjab government for failing to rehabilitate flood victims and resorting to theatrics in a special Assembly session. In a press statement, Sud said the Punjab government’s actions fit the saying, “A hundred lies are needed to hide one lie.” He accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of reversing his earlier claims by blaming external factors like Himachal Pradesh, BBMB, and nature for the flood crisis, while real negligence in timely water management caused massive crop losses and human casualties.Sud recalled Mann’s promise to compensate farmers ₹50,000 per acre post-floods and compensation for livestock in 2023—promises that remain unfulfilled. The only relief available has come from Central government funds totaling ₹13,600 crore, which Sud alleged remain unspent by the state government.He condemned the special Assembly session convened by Mann as a distraction, marked by slogans and drama instead of meaningful debate, calling it a waste of taxpayers’ crores. Sood charged the government with betraying Punjabis by failing to deliver any concrete rehabilitation plan for flood victims and aggravating their suffering.This criticism underscores deep dissatisfaction with the current government’s flood management and relief efforts in Punjab.
