Unique Environmental Campaign Launched by District Administration under ‘Chardha Sooraj’ Initiative

Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/July 21 : The District Administration and the Red Cross Society have launched a new initiative under the “Chardha Sooraj” campaign to make the Mata Chintpurni Fair 2025 environment-friendly and 100% plastic-free. The sacred fair will be held from July 25 to August 4, 2025.
Announcing the campaign, Deputy Commissioner Ashika Jain urged NGOs, social workers, and individual changemakers to contribute towards making this spiritual event a model of environmental conservation.
She said that Mata Chintpurni Fair is an integral part of our cultural and spiritual heritage, and this year, under the “Chardha Sooraj” campaign, a firm commitment has been made to free the fair from plastic pollution. “Our goal is to make this event not only spiritually pure but also environmentally clean and sustainable,” she added. The campaign calls for active participation from all NGOs, volunteers, and responsible citizens.
Key Roles for Volunteers:
As part of the campaign, volunteers will be given important responsibilities, including being deployed in shifts across langars from Adampur to the Hoshiarpur border. They will oversee cleanliness, ensure stalls and langar tents are 100% plastic-free, educate devotees about the ‘No Plastic’ policy, assist in waste management, and regularly report on top-performing stalls during the 10-day fair.
Recognition and Felicitation:
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the efforts of volunteers will be instrumental in setting a new benchmark for eco-friendly fairs. NGOs and volunteers who deliver outstanding work will be specially recognized and honored. Certificates and awards will be presented during a mega felicitation event.
