Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha/Nov.12 :  In a unique and inspiring initiative, the Hoshiarpur district administration conducted an extensive review of the preparations for the forthcoming Nagar Kirtan dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain and Senior Superintendent of Police Sandeep Kumar Malik, a joint team of civil and police officials undertook a “Meeting on Wheels” — boarding a bus from Mukerian to Hoshiarpur to inspect the entire Nagar Kirtan route.During the journey, the team meticulously reviewed major checkpoints, security arrangements, langar (community kitchen) sites, electricity supply, and sanitation facilities along the route. The exercise was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Assistant Commissioner Oaishi Mandal, all SDMs, SPs, DSPs, and other departmental officers. Conducting on-the-spot assessments and finding immediate solutions from within a single moving meeting made this initiative both practical and symbolic of effective teamwork and field-level coordination.Deputy Commissioner Jain stated that the historic Nagar Kirtan, which began from Srinagar, will enter the Hoshiarpur district on November 21 via Pathankot, passing through Mukerian and Dasuya before halting overnight at Gurdwara Rampur Khera. On November 22, it will proceed through Bhunga and Hariana to Hoshiarpur city, where the district administration will accord it a guard of honor as a mark of respect. From there, the procession will continue through Chabbewal, Mahilpur, Saila Khurd, and Garhshankar en route to Sri Anandpur Sahib.Jain further informed that all departments have been directed to ensure top-notch arrangements for cleanliness, electricity, drinking water, langar, traffic management, and security along the route. Meetings have also been held with langar committees to review readiness, while SDM- and DSP-level coordination meetings are ongoing with gurdwara managements, municipal bodies, market associations, and local representatives to ensure a smooth experience for devotees.SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik added that the police department has finalized a detailed plan to manage traffic and security during the Nagar Kirtan. Police personnel will be deployed at all sensitive points, and surveillance measures will be heightened. He emphasized that this “Meeting on Wheels” initiative reflects the collective commitment of both administration and police to celebrate this historic occasion with devotion, discipline, and grandeur.
