Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 28 : Mobile phones were originally developed to meet communication needs, but over time, they have become an inseparable part of everyday life across all age groups. Whether it’s household chores, office work, children’s education, or any other task, people have become increasingly dependent on their phones.
Experts warn that this growing digital dependency is having the most adverse impact on children. Prolonged exposure to mobile devices is believed to be weakening them both mentally and physically.
In response to this growing concern, Sur Sangeet Trust has launched a proactive initiative under the leadership of Nikiyan Karumbla. The trust has started distributing age-appropriate educational books to children, with a thoughtful twist — the books are first given to teachers. After reading and understanding the content themselves, the teachers then pass on the knowledge to children in a way that suits their age and comprehension level.
Renowned author, intellectual, and educationist Baljinder Maan spoke in detail about this initiative. Praising the effort, he said, “In today’s time, it is crucial to detach children from excessive mobile usage and reconnect them with the culture of books. Sur Sangeet Trust’s initiative is a commendable step in this direction and sets a powerful example for others to follow.”
Local social workers and educators have also extended their support, calling the initiative the need of the hour.
