Opposition Slams Punjab Government Over “

Hoshiarpur/ Daljeet Ajnoha/Oct.30 : The opposition has launched a sharp attack on the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, accusing it of seeking undue public applause by shutting down toll plazas that were already due for legal closure. Shiromani Akali Dal leaders Lali Bajwa and Advocate Shamsher Bhardwaj alleged that while the government has made much of toll closures, it has ignored the deteriorating condition of the roads concerned.According to the leaders, the roads where toll plazas have been closed are now in a severely damaged state. Deep potholes have developed on the Tanda–Hoshiarpur, Garhshankar–Bala­chaur, and Dasuya–Hoshiarpur stretches, leading to multiple accidents and the loss of precious lives. Advocate Bhardwaj said that even after completing three and a half years in office, the Bhagwant Mann government has failed to deliver any tangible results on the ground.He further stated that the Chief Minister remains focused on rhetoric and publicity rather than addressing critical issues such as road infrastructure, employment, and public safety. Referring to the Tarn Taran by-election, Bhardwaj claimed that the Akali Dal continues to enjoy strong public support and is poised for a major victory. He also accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of registering false cases against Akali workers out of panic. “Such oppressive tactics will not break the spirit of Akali workers—they will continue to fight more resolutely for the people,” Bhardwaj asserted.
