Focus on new era of producing deployable professionals
Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/1 October : University School of Commerce & Management at Lamrin Tech Skills University Punjab, successfully organized an insightful panel discussion titled “Building Professionals: Transition from Employable to Deployable” in campus. The panel discussion aimed to gain insights from industry professionals and academicians to understand current industry trends, technological advancements, and the skill sets needed to make students deployable.
The event was graced by Dr. Sandeep Singh Kaura, Adviser NSDC and NSDC International, Skill India International Mission, Govt. of India, and Chancellor, Lamrin Tech Skills University, who delivered the keynote address as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Kaura emphasized the growing demand for professionals trained in relevant technologies and capable of adapting to the rapidly changing industry standards. In a striking analogy, Dr. Kaura compared a degree to a passport, noting that just as a passport is ineffective without a visa, a degree is nothing more than a piece of paper if the individual holding it lacks the requisite skills. This statement highlighted the crucial role that skills play in enhancing formal education.
The distinguished panelists included Prof. Sanjay Kaushik, Dean, College of Development Council, Panjab University Chandigarh; Dr. Pratap Sundar, Academic Director and Professor of Operations Management, Indian School of Business, Mohali; Mr. Ashish Tanwar, APJ Head – Early Career Hiring, Zscaler (Ex-Google, Ex-Microsoft); Mr. Raman Angra, Corporate Affairs Lead, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., Baddi,, Himachal Pradesh and Dr. Parvinder Kaur, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Lamrin Tech Skills University, Punjab. The panel delved into the critical need for academic institutions to align their curriculum with industry demands, emphasizing that the value of a degree lies in the practical skills it represents. They emphasized the need to incorporate practical experiences like internships, apprenticeships, experiential learning & project-based learning into academic frameworks to better prepare students as industry-ready professionals.
The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Navdeep Singh, Deputy Director, Overseas Employment Skill Development & Training, LTSU Punjab, who ensured a focused and engaging dialogue throughout.
