Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/Dec.10 : PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur organizes awareness camp for promotion of biofertilizers PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur, in collaboration with the Department of Microbiology, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, recently organized an awareness camp to promote biofertilizers in adopted village Rampur Sainian.
At the outset, Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK Hoshiarpur, welcomed the participants and elaborated on KVK’s activities aimed at supporting the farming community. He highlighted the purpose of the camp and encouraged farmers to adopt resource conservation technologies advocated by PAU, Ludhiana, for environmental sustainability. Dr. Bons also shared important tips reading integrated weed, nutrient and pest management in rabi crops.
Dr. Urmila Gupta, Head, Department of Microbiology, PAU, Ludhiana outlined the services offered by her department. She detailed the benefits of fermented organic cleanser bioenzymes and their use in utilizing organic household waste for various cleaning purposes.
Dr. Priya Katyal, Microbiologist, introduced Kombucha, a black tea-based functional beverage, advocating its health benefits.
Dr. Pratibha Vyas, Assistant Professor (Microbiology) discussed the use of wheat biofertilizers and provided a detailed explanation of their application for optimal benefits.
Dr. Ana Goyal, Mycologist stressed the potential of mushroom cultivation as a profitable subsidiary occupation. She also conducted a practical demonstration on dhingri mushroom cultivation.
On this occasion, participants were also provided with wheat biofertilizers, Kombucha beverages, bioenzymes, and mushroom spawn for use on their farms and at home under this scheme.
In the end Dr. Karmvir Singh Garcha, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), KVK, Hoshiarpur thanked the farmers and farmwomen for their participation in the camp and advocated the use of integrated nutrition gardening.
