Pihoava: Sacred Site Where Bathing,

Pihova/Daljeet Ajnoha/April 13 : Pihoava Tirth, described in ancient texts as Prithudak Tirth, holds immense spiritual significance. Pandit Deepak Kumar Attri, priest at Pandit Gangaram Ji’s gaddi, explains that this ancient pilgrimage site—especially the Prachi Tirth within it—is believed to be where the legendary Saraswati River once flowed. A holy bath in its ancient well on the special day of Vaisakhi yields the fruits of bathing in all sacred rivers, destroying sins and bestowing immense merit.
Prachi Tirth enjoys a special place here. It was at this very spot that Sage Garg performed the last rites of Lord Rama’s father, King Dasharatha. The Mahabharata also records that the funeral rites of the slain Kauravas were conducted on Prithudak’s sacred soil. As the site of Lord Brahma’s penance, Pihoawa Tirth is revered as a place that grants moksha (liberation) to ancestors through bathing, charity, austerities, rituals, and tarpan.
