Hoshiarpur / Daljeet Ajnoha/May 6 : CJM-cum-Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Neeraj Goyal, informed that under the leadership of District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of District Legal Services Authority, Rajinder Aggarwal, the second National Lok Adalat of the year 2025 is being organized at the district and sub-divisional levels on May 10.
He stated that every possible effort is being made to raise awareness among the public about the Lok Adalat. Meetings are being held from time to time with officials of various departments, and instructions have been issued to ensure maximum publicity so that more people can be informed.
The Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority mentioned that the main objective of the Lok Adalat is to help people resolve their civil, criminal, and pre-litigation matters through mutual settlements and gain maximum benefits. In addition, daily seminars are being conducted in various villages, towns, schools, and colleges to educate the public about the benefits of filing cases in the Lok Adalat.
This will enable people to gain greater awareness of legal services and take advantage of government-provided support. It will save both time and money and also relieve them from the burden of frequent court visits.
For the promotion of the Lok Adalat, PLVs (Para Legal Volunteers) are spreading awareness by putting up banners in public places. Moreover, extensive publicity is being done regarding the benefits of the Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services).
In the Permanent Lok Adalat, cases related to public utility services—such as transportation, postal services, telegraph, telephone, hospitals, insurance, banking, education, old-age pensions, Shagun scheme, etc.—are registered under Section 22-(1) of the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987. These cases are resolved in a minimum possible time to protect people from unnecessary troubles.
