Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha /Nov.1 : Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi conducted an extensive tour of various areas in the Garhshankar constituency to assess ground-level implementation of government welfare schemes and address issues concerning the Scheduled Caste community. During the visit, he met Deputy Speaker Jai Krishan Singh Rouri and held detailed discussions on the upliftment of Scheduled Castes in the region, focusing on education, employment, and social justice.At the National Public School in Garhi Matton village, Garhi briefed students on the Post-Matric Scholarship scheme, encouraging them to apply online in a timely manner and ensure all required documents were complete. Responding to media queries, he said that, as clarified in a recent meeting of the Department of Social Justice, all pending payments under the Post-Matric Scholarship for the years 2021–22 and 2022 onwards have been cleared by the Punjab government, providing relief to thousands of students.Garhi further stated that through the Commission’s persistent efforts, SP-level nodal officers have been appointed in all districts of Punjab to expedite cases registered under the SC/ST Act, while a DIG-level officer has been assigned at the state level for oversight. He added that the Commission’s primary aim is to protect the rights of Scheduled Castes and ensure timely justice. Over the past seven months, more than 3,000 files have been disposed of, he said.Later, Garhi held a meeting with sarpanches and local representatives in Beehra village to review the implementation of welfare schemes for Scheduled Castes. He directed village panchayats to spread greater awareness about social justice schemes and take an active role in connecting eligible beneficiaries with the available programs.The Chairman also paid obeisance at Gurudwara Shaheedan in Jassowal village during a Gurmat Samagam organized by Sant Baba Charanjit Singh Ji to mark the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Addressing the congregation, he urged people to draw inspiration from the Guru’s life and sacrifice. Later, at Dera Sant Raju Das Ji in Gajjar Mahidood village, he met Sant 108 Satnam Das Ji and appealed to all for maintaining communal harmony and unity.
