Hoshiarpur/ April 9/Daljeet Ajnoha :  Under Punjab Government’s ongoing spree of ‘Sikhia Kranti’ programs in schools, Member Parliament Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal on Wednesday announced to adopt Government Senior Secondary School, Phalahi after inaugurating the works accomplished at a cost of nearly Rs. 61 lakh in the school premises.

Stating that he will not only maintain regular interaction with the students, Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that he would also make all out efforts to convert this school one of the model schools in term of development, requisite facilities and arrangements for students as well as teachers Accompanied by district education officer Lalita Arora, School Principal Mridula Sharma, members of the School Management Committee and local dignitaries, Dr. Chabbewal inaugurated the new classrooms, boundary walls and bathrooms built at the school.

Addressing the gathering, the Member Parliament mentioned that he has adopted this school to take care of its every aspect of development besides regularly meeting students to motivate them towards their desired goals. ” Punjab Government’s Mentorship program is an innovative and student oriented step and I also want to become an active part of such program thus I have decided to adopt this school,” said Dr. Chabbewal.

 

Member Parliament, who is a doctor by profession, said that it is high time to apprise students especially of senior secondary ones for choosing right direction according to the present era of competitiveness. He also stressed the need that elected representatives should adopt the Government Schools under Punjab Government’s Mentorship Program, which would further beneficial for students for their bright future and shining career. He said that he would work in tandem with the school staff, panchayat and villagers so that this could also become a best schools in the region. He also pointed out that apart from the senior bureaucrats, the elected representatives should also be a part of mentorship program to provide the students with a vision about competitive education, required information about jobs and guiding to set target for their future, besides contributing to the all-round development of the schools.

Talking about the infrastructure strengthened in the school at a cost of about Rs. 61 lakh, Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that he will continue to strive to bring Phalahi School among the top model schools. Meanwhile, he also assured the Principal to meet the demand of some development works as put forward on the spot. The Punjab government will also approve commerce classes in the school. He said that the necessary funds for further development of the school and interlocking floors will be provided soon. He added that the Punjab government has set new records in the field of education by providing training to teachers abroad, providing every modern facility to students and ensuring state-of-the-art infrastructure in schools.

On this occasion, Principal Malkiat Kaur, Principal Ramandeep, Sarpanch of village Falahi Lakhvir Kaur, Sarpanch of Salempur Major Singh, Sarpanch of Bathian Savita, Joginder Pal, former Sarpanch Surjit Lal, Sarpanch Sital Singh, Sarpanch Amarjit Singh, Sarpanch Kuldeep Kaur, Chairman of the School Management Committee Mangat Ram, Maya Devi, Manjit Kaur etc. were also present.
