Punjab Teachers’ Union Demands DA

Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha /Oct.7 :  A crucial meeting of the Sanjha Shikshak Morcha was held in Mahilpur under the leadership of Narendra Ajnoha and Paramjit Katib. Addressing the gathering, the leaders stated that the Punjab government should issue a dearness allowance (DA) equal to that given by the central government. They pointed out that the Centre has raised the DA for central employees to 58%, whereas Punjab’s employees, receiving only 42% DA, feel deceived.The union demanded that the state government immediately raise the DA to match the Centre’s rates. Leaders recalled that in earlier times, Punjab was the first state to announce DA increases compared to other states, but in recent years it has fallen significantly behind. The Sanjha Shikshak Morcha also appealed to the Punjab government to release the revised DA before Diwali, in the same manner as the Centre.In addition, they stressed that the notification issued on November 18, 2022, for restoring the old pension scheme should be implemented without delay, and the government should fulfil its promise to employees under the National Pension System (NPS).Those present at the meeting included Narendra Ajnoha, Paramjit Katib, Omkar Singh, Baljit Singh, Pawan Singh, Inderjit Singh, Pawanveer Singh, Rakesh Kotharia, Naresh Kumar, Harish Puri, Am Aje Kumar, Surjit Singh, and Harpreet Singh.
