Hoshiarpur/Daljeet Ajnoha/May 6 : Rayat Bahra Law College organized a Moot Court Competition to provide students with a platform to showcase their legal knowledge and advocacy skills. The event was conducted under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rangnath Singh and Head of Department Dr. Priyanka Puri, with coordination by moot court committee members Sukhpreet Kaur and Manpreet Kaur.
Dr. Priyanka Puri stated that the competition was based on key provisions of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, particularly focusing on restitution of conjugal rights and divorce. Eight teams participated, each comprising two speakers and a researcher.
The competition aimed to strengthen students’ legal understanding, argumentation skills, and self-confidence. Alumni lawyers of the college, now practicing in the legal field, judged the preliminary and semi-final rounds. The final round was assessed by Dr. Inderpreet Kaur (GNDU Regional Centre, Jalandhar) and Dr. Brajesh Sharma (SGGRC, Hoshiarpur), who evaluated the teams on the basis of confidence, subject knowledge, and presentation.
Both the winning and runner-up teams belonged to the fourth semester of the BA.LL.B. (Hons.) program. Principal Dr. R.N. Singh praised the students’ enthusiastic participation and announced that more such practical events will be organized in the future to enhance experiential learning.
