Nurmahal/ April 12/Daljeet Ajnoha : Renowned senior journalist Dr. Daljeet Ajnoha paid a visit to Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), Nurmahal today. During his visit, he had a special meeting with the senior saint of the institution, Swami Giridharanand Ji Maharaj.
The meeting involved a detailed discussion on the spiritual, social, and environmental initiatives being carried out by DJJS. Swami Ji elaborated on the organization’s active efforts in areas such as drug de-addiction, women empowerment, environmental protection, youth guidance, and inner awakening.
Dr. Ajnoha appreciated the efforts of the organization, stating, “Institutions like DJJS play a vital role in building a harmonious, peaceful, and awakened society.”
One of the highlights of the visit was the discussion on a remarkable environmental initiative — The Revival of Extinct and Endangered Plant Species. Under the guidance of Swami Giridharanand Ji, the residents of the ashram have planted over 800 rare and endangered plants across nearly 2 acres of land.
These include species such as Phalsa, Agarwood, Banana, Date Palm, Neem, Banyan, Karir, Moringa, Mahua, Rudraksha, Bael, Sandalwood, Harad, and Amaltas — many of which hold immense medicinal, religious, and cultural significance.
Swami Ji remarked, “Plants that were once the pride of our land are now lost even from our memory. Our effort is to breathe life back into nature’s forgotten treasures — so that environmental balance can be restored and humanity may benefit.”
Beautiful walkways are being constructed within this plantation area to allow visitors to closely observe and appreciate this rare botanical heritage. In the near future, all these plants will be included in the Sansthan’s nursery for preservation and propagation.
This initiative is not only a significant step toward environmental revival but also a welfare-oriented move for society at large. Swami Ji described it as “a spiritual and social movement.”
