HOSHIARPUR/DALjEET AJNOHA/MAY 22 : The Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary Model School, Hoshiarpur, commenced recently with great enthusiasm. The event began with the garlanding of the portraits of the school’s founders, Ms. Jagatwali Sood and Ms. Sharda Sood, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
The school’s Chairman, Anurag Sood, shared that Vidya Mandir was founded on May 21, 1951, by Ms. Jagatwali Sood, and shortly thereafter, Ms. Sharda Sood also joined in this noble mission of imparting education. Both these great personalities remained dedicated throughout their lives to the all-round development of students with a selfless spirit, aiming not only for their success but also to instill in them values of humanity and service to the nation. They constantly strove to foster a spirit of patriotism in society.
On this occasion, the school’s General Secretary, Dr. Harshvinder Singh Pathania, announced that alumni reunion events would be held during the school’s historic 75th year. He emphasized that it is our duty to follow the path shown by Ms. Jagatwali Sood and serve the nation.
Veteran executive member of the Vidya Mandir committee, Avinash Bhandari, shared his memories, stating that he has been associated with the school since 1962. He proudly mentioned that many of the school’s alumni have retired from prestigious positions such as Indian ambassadors, Chief Election Commissioner, and judges. Despite being 90 years old, he said visiting the school continues to bring him immense joy.
Teachers who have been associated with the school since the time of the founder, including Principal Shobha Rani Kanwar, Sunita Rani, Manisha Joshi, Manmohan Sharma, Vijaya Kanwar, and social worker Mani Gogia, also shared their experiences with the students. Distinguished guests including Prof. Nazam Riar, Ms. Monika Narang, and others were also present at the event. On this joyful occasion, sweets (laddoos) were distributed among the students, staff, and guests.
