Hoshiarpur/Oct. 15 /Daljeet Ajnoha : Senior BJP leader and former cabinet minister Tikshan Sood has lauded the Central Government’s decision to release financial assistance for flood-affected families in Punjab, calling it a “commendable and humane step” under the leadership of Prime Minister Narender Modi.Sood praised Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who, following the Prime Minister’s directive, visited Ludhiana and announced the release of ₹1.6 lakh per house for the reconstruction of 36,703 homes damaged in the recent floods. He blamed the Punjab Government’s negligence for the large-scale destruction caused by heavy rains, noting that thousands of houses had collapsed, crops over vast stretches of farmland were wiped out, and about 50 lives were lost. According to Sood, during the crisis, the Aam Aadmi Party leadership was “nowhere to be seen,” while BJP workers and central agencies stood firmly by the affected families.Sood added that senior central ministers, along with the Prime Minister, personally reviewed the situation on the ground and enhanced relief funds to expedite assistance to farmers. He emphasized that without the support of the Central Government and voluntary organisations, the rehabilitation of flood victims would not have been possible.
